MSAF Celebration 2011: Sold Out and Successful!
The third annual Microsoft Alumni Foundation Celebration unfolded on November 16, 2011. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation very generously hosted the evening.
The evening started out with attendees having the chance to meet this year's 19 Integral Fellows nominees as they worked their way through the enthusiastic crowd in our showcase area. Then, everyone flowed into the spacious atrium for the start of the MSAF Celebration 2011 program.

Event co-chair Robbie Bach talked about alumni finding their "Act 2," that is, what one does after leaving Microsoft. He recalled his "aha" moment came during a national Board of Governors meeting for the Boys and Girls Club.
Our other co-chair, Tricia Raikes, relayed a very personal story that led to her involvement in working to provide support for adolescents to ensure they become health, contributing adults.
Our 2011 Integral Fellows winners were announced from the six finalists: Tom Ikeda, Densho; David Risher, Worldreader; and Oliver Hurst-Hiller, DonorsChoose.org. They each received an unrestricted grant of $25,000 for their organizations. The remaining three finalists--Nancy Andrews, SCOPE; Mahnaz Javid, Mona Foundation; and Kevin Ross, FirstWA, were surprised with a grant of $5,000 for each of their groups.
Scott Oki received an Lifetime Achievement award for his cumulative impact in the non-profit community having been involved with over 100 organizations since leaving Microsoft many years ago.
The program ended and everyone was entertained by alumni Jon Reingold and his band, Deadwax.
