Frequently Asked Questions

Who are you?

Microsoft Alumni Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has a licensing arrangement with Microsoft to use the name for the purposes of charitable giving. We are not affiliated with Microsoft, however we intend to, and have met with Microsoft, to align our mission and goals. We are a new foundation specifically for the Microsoft Alumni community. You do not have to be a member of the Microsoft Alumni Network to join. But if you are, 12% of your membership dues go to fund MSAF's admin costs. So every dollar you do contribute beyond that can go directly to programs.

Where do you work?

Microsoft alum live, work and play all over the world-so that is where we will work.

What are you doing with the money?

We want to use the collective resources (time, talent and treasure) of the Microsoft Alumni community to develop active, effective philanthropic leaders focused on creating innovative, scalable solutions to our planet's problems.

And how are you going to do that?

We need your help to figure that out. The most valuable asset this organization has is its people.

So what now?

We are going to be hosting Founders' Circle dinners, online forums, and conduct a membership survey to identify the best use of our resources. If you would like to be a part of this start-up process, please contact us to arrange a time to meet.

Like the early days at Microsoft, we're still finding our way but we know that by leveraging our collective resources, we have another chance to change the world.
