Anne Garrett Addison
Executive Director
Anne Garrett Addison is the founding Executive Director of Microsoft Alumni Foundation. Before joining MSAF, she spent ten years launching local, national and international nonprofits.
In October 2007 she was selected as one of the L'Oreal-Paris Women of Worth for her work founding the Preeclampsia Foundation: the leading lay source on hypertension in pregnancy in the world with over 5,800 members and an active, well-moderated free forum of over 200,000 posts in 20,000 topic areas. She has been featured in interviews on NPR (Sound Focus with Megan Sukys), Puget Sound Business Journal, Voice of America, the NYTimes Sunday magazine (cover story), the TODAY Show, among others.
In 2008 she was invited back to serve as a judge for the 2008 Women of Worth Award, together with Soledad O’Brien, co-anchor, CNN American Morning, Jacqueline Hernandez, COO, Telemundo Communications Group, Inc., Elizabeth Howard, CEO, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, among others.
In 2005 she helped launch the Lake Washington Schools Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to enriching, engaging and enhancing learning opportunities for students in the Lake Washington School District and in 2006, she was recruited to start-up the International Preeclampsia Alliance, the first international alliance of preeclampsia patient advocacy groups. Under her guidance Interprea joined the World Health Organization's Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health.
Prior to founding the Preeclampsia Foundation, she was a teacher in Bellevue, Seattle and Mercer Island. Anne has a MA in Teaching from City University and a BA in Fine Arts from St. Olaf College and spent her junior year abroad at Oxford University, studying at the Centre for Medieval & Renaissance Studies. Anne lives with her husband Steve and four sons in Lake Stevens, Washington.
